Frequently Asked Questions

How do our units address the literacy crisis?

To get better at reading, a student must read. As a focus of our units, reading is structured so that students are doing the heavy lifting. Our students become better readers through regular practice with purpose.

How much preparation is required?

Very little. Preparation includes printing student handouts, reviewing the daily lesson plan, and previewing the slides for successful delivery of each lesson.

Is this a scripted program?

No. While the lesson plans are detailed and the slides contain language that facilitates and propels the instructional sequence, the teacher has the ability to make adjustments and lend their expertise to the content delivery.

Do I have to use the strategies provided in the unit?

The units rely on research-based strategies and you are welcome to introduce your own favorites as they fit the learning purpose.

How will this approach support English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities?

Effective ELL and Special Education support relies on a sound instructional foundation. Our units bring clarity to students in the form of scaffolding and visuals to support their learning, with daily checks for understanding and multiple processing opportunities.

What sets us apart?

Online instruction-sharing platforms where teachers pay teachers for their creative work can be a great short-term resource to fill gaps in instruction. However, this approach can lead to instruction that feels like a series of activities that may address the topic but may not support the outcome and standards.

TeacherUnits.com by EdProDesign offers a comprehensive approach to unit instruction where standards dictate what we teach and the outcome drives how we teach.

Before any instruction is designed, our experienced educators create the end-of-unit outcome to ensure the performance task is rigorous and directly addresses the standards. Daily lesson plans are accompanied by slide shows, and every lesson practices the thinking and skills required in the outcome.

Our units ask students to think deeply about their learning and why that learning is important, bringing focus and clarity to each lesson.
